so my dermatologist told me i have rosacea and prescribed metrolotion for my dry sometimes break-out prone skin (and it's absolutely fantastic. i recommend looking into it)
i love a daily face care ritual and miss st ives apricot scrub (too tough on my skin now). can anyone recommend good cleaners and moisturizers for dry rosacea skin? it would obviously need to be made for very sensitive skin.
thanks in advance!Help for skin with rosacea?
I know they have an apricot scrub for sensitive skin, I am prone to redness and I like it. Also Aveeno moisturizing cleanser is great, it is all natural and it won't clog your pores.

Best way to help rosacea?
Hello,
I have had a patch of rosacea under my eye for the last few years. The severity comes and goes, but right now, it鈥檚 the worst it鈥檚 been. I have developed a small pimple, but has not gone away in months. Is a microdermabrasion helpful for cases such as these? I currently apply a cream called proascea, but heard it may make it worse? How about metro-gel, which is prescribed. Also, I have heard primrose oil is VERY effective, but is this applied topically, or orally? ThanksBest way to help rosacea?
';What is used for rosacea?
Treatment involves both oral and topical medicines. Oral antibiotics (such as tetracycline) are commonly prescribed; the dose may be initially high and then be tapered to maintenance levels.
A topical (skin) antibiotic cream such as metronidazole (Metrocream) is useful to reduces the inflammation and the redness. Other topical antibiotic creams include erythomycin and clindamycin (Cleocin).
Short-term topical cortisone (steroid) preparations of the right strength may also be used to reduce local inflammation. Some doctors are trying tretinoin (Retin-A) or isotretoin (Accutane), prescription medications also used for acne, or permethrin (Elimite) cream, which is used for the mites that cause scabies.';
Microderabrasion could make rosacea much worse.
I have to ask: how do you know for sure that you have rosacea? Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? I have never heard of having just a patch of rosacea. It's possible that rosacea treatments may not work on your condition.Best way to help rosacea?
Metro-gel will probably help. Personally I've been happier with Azelaic acid. Go see your doctor and mention Azelaic acid (usually its for acne but there have been papers published about it's use for rosacea).

I have a mild rosacea?
I used to scrub my face really hard but I don't do it anymore, and especially even if I wash my face with water my cheeks and chin gets red, bumpy and inflamated. I used different face washes and tried to wash with mild soap but didn't help! What should I do???I have a mild rosacea?
If even water makes your face red it's more than mild rosacea. You can take medication for it, Clonidine is one.eye makeup

Desonide Lotion for rosacea?
I went to the dermatologist today and found out I have rosacea. I'm only 16 and he said there isn't a cure and the only thing he could give me was Desonide Lotion 0.05% and he told me not to use it daily. Has anyone ever used this for rosacea? and did it work? how often should I use it?
Thanks in advance.Desonide Lotion for rosacea?
the newest TV ad for rosacea is doxycline which is vibramycin only it's being advertised under a different name. at one point, they were using flagyl for this, get a second opinion. it's not in their interest to cure you, but to keep you coming back! cause there is never an emergency dermatology consult and they rarely take call. poor things.

Do you have rosacea? Perhaps I am not spelling it correctly.?
I have a redness on my face over both cheeks and nose. It becomes irritated with some skin cleansers and from anything with SPF in it. Anybody care to comment?Do you have rosacea? Perhaps I am not spelling it correctly.?
You can get good information at:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/rosac鈥?/a>Do you have rosacea? Perhaps I am not spelling it correctly.?
Its an allergy...
Yes, be careful and don't SCRUB on your face. The way I understand it, those are broken blood vessels in your face.
My sister gets that when she has a drink of booze, go figure. My first cousin , and HER daughter both have it. My sister took after my dad's side, which the first cousin came from. Do you have relatives that have it?
I figure, a good base will even out your skin tone. I have a little on my left side only!. I use base by ARBONNE. Omigosh, it is sssoooooo light on your skin, just BARELY there, but, it corrects my skin tone, which is olive-like.
It's probably rosacea (I think you spelled it right). If not, might be an allergic reaction, or mild acne. Go to a dermatologist so they can prescribe something.
a woman that i work with had rosacea for a while... go see a dermatologist and they can help you to get it under control. they told her that it was her reaction to stress... i don't know about that part, i'm simply relaying info. good luck, ma'am!
i had it when i came back from school camp but that was 20 year ago. i think my mum just put calamine lotion all over me it itched like hell but i havent ever got it back so no idea how i got it or what caused it, is it def that you have - see your doctor he will confirm and treat as should be
You drink too much beer.
i have it and i see a derma... for it. becareful because anything can irritate to your skin

I have rosacea, and I have had great results with Azelex (U.S. name.) Its generic name is azelaic acid cream, 20%.
I used to take tetracycline and still take that from time to time if I have a bad eruption of pustules and papules, but this Azelex is great and I don't even put it on every day.

I know it sounds weird, but has anybody tried diaper rash cream for rosacea? The zinc oxide is supposed to be really good for it..Has anybody tried diaper rash cream for rosacea? I know it sounds gross...?
I believe it. We used Dr. Smith's on my daughter. Now, I keep the stuff around for a variety of uses... It works really good on a number of ailments.Has anybody tried diaper rash cream for rosacea? I know it sounds gross...?
I tried it, but it just made me break out.
Yes, it should work well. Desitin is a great one to try.
No... and I suggest you also don't....
I haven't, but my dr prescribed some medicine that I use regularly. I think it's called metrogel.
Good luck!
I never tried it for rosacea, but my hubby fell off tractor and his leg had a bruise the size of a saucer. He used Desitin aka diaper rash ointment, and the bruise was gone within the week. I believe it would work as well on rosacea.
Never used diaper rash cream but I did use Echinechea salve on it from a company called herbal healer! Worked like a charm.
That's fine, but sailorschinadoll has a good solution, I was about to say the same thing.
NOT ME!!!

Cure for rosacea please?
I have been suffering from very persistent rosacea for as long as I can remember. I have tried so many different things to get rid of it, and I am now vegan. But nothing seems to work. I have been to the doctors a million times, but it just keeps being really persistent. Does anyone have any other ideas to help please???Cure for rosacea please?
I use 3 topical creams as prescribed by my dermatologist... If you're not going to see a dermatologist, you could try Prosacea.
http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_p鈥?/a>
You could also look into Ph-balanced diet.
Or there could be underlying health issues, as skin is referred to as the body's 3rd kidney..
';Skin conditions generally point to some kind of digestive problem, and rosacea is no exception. Many rosacea sufferers have been found to have low levels of stomach acid, which prevents proper digestion of trace minerals and possibly the overgrowth of bacteria that aggravates the skin. Sluggish bowels and constipation may have a similar effect on digestion.';

Will rosacea fade after pregnancy?
I had rosacea before, and it was mild. It faded away for 7 yes as I took roaccutane and it helped me.
Now its back in my pregnancy. I am 36weeks pregnant, and it hurts so much. it is so red and itches. Doc gave me creams and sprays and they make my cheeks burn even more.
Doc told me it will fade away after birth as this is due to the increased blood flow in pregnancy.
Is this true? will it fade away? I am so depressed, please help
Will rosacea fade after pregnancy?
Often too the changes in hormones and other stresses on your body can lead to more flushing which then exacerbates the rosacea more.
It can be a hard time when you are pregnant and wary of treatments that may have side effects.
Once the extra triggers of pregnancy are gone you may well find your rosacea subsides again.
good luck !

Does anyone know how to treat rosacea? what has worked for you?
There are some new meds on the market for rosacea - hope you're able to visit a dermatologist and discuss this with him or her.
Rosacea rarely disappears without treatment. In fact, it tends to get worse over time if left untreated. Although it cannot be cured, several treatment options exist that can control the redness, inflammation and skin eruptions commonly experienced with the condition. They include:
Over-the-counter topical treatments. A physician may recommend moisturizers, soaps, sunscreens and other products to improve the overall health of the skin.
Topical antibiotics. Prescription medication applied directly to the skin for both their anti-inflammatory qualities and antibacterial qualities.
Oral antibiotics. Medication taken by mouth to kill bacteria. These tend to work faster than topical antibiotics. Sometimes, both topical and oral antibiotics are prescribed.
Other medications. Certain acne medications may be prescribed for some patients instead of or along with antibiotics. These include topical sulfur and azelaic acid. In very severe cases of rosacea, the acne medication isotretinoin may be prescribed.
Laser surgery and electrosurgery. Extreme cases of rosacea, such as those that involve rhinophyma (thickening of the skin usually on the nose), may be treated with laser or electrosurgery. These techniques are used to reduce the visibility of enlarged blood vessels, remove tissue buildup around the nose and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

I find that a product you buy in the drug store called Witch Hazel has helped me with my facial redness. It can be found in the same area as the first aid products. Its a clear liquid in a bottle and you just put some on a cotton ball and pat it on the area. If you want, you can keep it in the fridge and it feels really cool when putting it on. I am sure there are other things that help, but this is what has helped me without going to a doctor.

What is a good treatment for rosacea?
Rosacea Treatment
First Steps
If you believe that you may have Rosacea, the first thing to do is to see your dermatologist. Many of the symptoms of Rosacea could be the result of other ailments. As always when dealing with this sort of situation, professional advice should be your first course of action.
If you have been diagnosed with Rosacea you need to know that there is currently no cure. In fact, the cause of Rosacea is still somewhat of a mystery. Having said this however, the good news is that there are many things that can be done to bring the disease under control and minimize the symptoms and also to prevent the disease from progressing further. In general, the treatment is aimed at the control of redness, inflammation, and skin eruptions. Treatment is necessary to prevent permanent damage.
Forms of Treatments
In most cases, once a diagnosis of Rosacea has been made a dermatologist will prescribed a combination of oral antibiotics and the use of antibiotic gel as initial treatment. The oral antibiotics will bring the condition under control (reducing redness and the formation of papules and pustules), then the topical treatments will be used to keep the symptoms under control. In all cases the dermatologist should help to determine the relevant lifestyle factors which may need modification to keep flushing/blushing from occurring.
Long term use of Oral Antibiotics is not recommended due to a number of side effects which may occur including sun sensitivity and upset stomach.
A couple of important notes:
- It may take several weeks or more to see any improvement in the condition
- Since Rosacea cannot be cured it will often be necessary to continue with topical treatment (and modification of lifestyle factors) even after symptoms have been reduced or have disappeared. Your dermatologist will make a recommendation based on your particular situation.
Controlling Flushing and Blushing
It is important to control the flushing %26amp; blushing aspects of Rosacea to help prevent the Rosacea from becoming worse. This can be accomplished through various forms of treatment described below as well through lifestyle adjustments.
Treatments Taken Orally
Oral antibiotics used in rosacea treatment are tetracycline; Minocin庐/minocycline; erythromicin
An alternative is a medication which is similar to Vitamin A called Isotretinoin (sold under the brand names of Accutane or Roaccutane) that is sometimes effective against severe papopustular rosacea. According to the Rosacea FAQ (see below) It works by inhibiting sebaceous gland function and physically shrinking the glands and, since it has potent anti-inflammatory properties, it is ideal to treat resistant rosacea. [Note that Isotretinoin is not to be taken by women who are, or may become pregnant due to the risk of birth defects.]
Topical Treatments
Metronidazole - In 1989 metronidazole was approved as the first topical treatment specifically for rosacea. It can help to reduce rosacea flare-ups once the rosacea is brought under control. In North America Metronidazole is sold under various brand names including Metrogel (and Metrolotion %26amp; Metrocream, all 3 contain .75% metronidazole and are manufacturered by Galderma Laboratories, Inc.) and Noritate (1% metronidazole cream). In Australia and New Zealand the equivalent of Metrogel is called Rozex. Metrocream, Metrolotion and Noritate are not available in Australia.
Rosacea-LTD III鈩? - The company's website says that almost all users of Rosacea-LTD III notice a substantial change within 40 days. The product contains zinc oxide, manganesium sterate, sodium chloride, iron oxide, polyethylene glycol, and sulfur. It may be ordered directly from the website.
Azelaic Acid, a treatment sometimes used for acne, has been shown to be effective in treating papules %26amp; pustules

Rosacea question,any doctors online,thanks?
please can you advise me if it is ok to use metrogel in conjunction with
oxytetracycline ,as a sort of 2 prong d attack agaisnt rosacia,,,thanks vvery muchRosacea question, any doctors online, thanks?
Not a bad idea to use both oral and topical preparations but not many doctors would chose old fashioned tetracycline. Lymecycline or minocycline would both be better.Rosacea question, any doctors online, thanks?
Like many people, I personally have used tetracycline antibiotics for skin complains. However, so much of the time the risks outweigh the benefits for some patients and patients are not advised of this beforehand. Oxytetracycline is the worst of all the tetracycline's. The better two are Minnocycline and Lemecycline, the latter is the preferred option.
The problem with using antibiotics for the managements of skin complains is that often a long course of antibiotics- up to three months is required for optimal treatment. This maximises the risks of side effects.
While tetracycline has proven to be effective as an acne and other skin treatment, there is some cause for concern related to possible side effects of the drug. In a study released in 2006, results indicated that tetracycline as well as other tetracycline derivatives may well be responsible for adverse drug reactions.
A study published by a hospital in France in 2006 indicates that adverse affects of cyclines might be serious and sometimes unknown. The report further suggested that 鈥榣ong term treatment by tetracycline's must be researched in patients presenting such symptoms.鈥?Symptoms related to adverse side effects in nearly 250 cases included autoimmune disorders and hypersensitivity.
With that said, using topical preparations in conjunction with oral antibiotics is a good management, but antibiotics should be a last resort option.

Rosacea is uncureable I'm told, but what can I do to avoid it.?
Avoid the triggers that cause the redness, such as spicy foods, sun (use sunblock), alcohol, caffeine, and anything else you notice causes you to flare up. They will vary by individual. I've also found a fantastic, over the counter product called Calm, Cool and Corrected. It's made by DermaDoctor. You can get it from either Nordstroms or Sephora, or their website directly. Lots of information here that may help

';Oral tetracycline antibiotics (tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline) and topical antibiotics such as metronidazole are usually the first line of defence prescribed by doctors to relieve papules, pustules, inflammation and some redness.[5] Oral antibiotics may also help to relieve symptoms of ocular rosacea. If papules and pustules persist, then sometimes isotretinoin can be prescribed.[6] Isotretinoin has many side effects and is normally used to treat severe acne but in low dosages is proven to be effective against papulopustular and phymatous rosacea.
Flushing and blushing can be reduced with a centrally-acting 伪-2 agonist clonidine. Clonidine has side effects of drowsiness and lowered blood pressure. Monoxidine can be used as an alternative to clonidine as it has less side effects but most people find to be less effective. Beta-blockers like propanolol are similar to 伪-2 agonists but work better for anxiety and chronic social blushing than general flushing triggers. If flushing occurs with red wine consumption and with other foods containing high amounts of histamine then antihistamines such as cetirizine or loratadine may help.
People who develop infections of the eyelids must practice frequent eyelid hygiene. Daily scrubbing the eyelids gently with diluted baby shampoo or an over-the-counter eyelid cleaner and applying warm (but not hot) compresses several times a day is recommended.
Dermatological vascular laser (single wavelength) or Intense Pulsed Light (broad spectrum) machines offer one of the best treatments for rosacea.[7] They use light to penetrate the epidermis to target the capillaries in the dermis layer of the skin. The light is absorbed by oxy-hemoglobin which heat up causing the capillary walls to heat up to 70潞C, damaging them, causing them to be absorbed by the body's natural defense mechanism.
CO2 lasers can be used to remove excess tissue caused by phymatous rosacea. CO2 lasers emit a wavelength that is absorbed directly by the skin. The laser beam can be focused into a thin beam and used as a scalpel or defocused and used to vaporise tissue.';

Can asians suffer from rosacea ?
my skin colour is a light browny yellowy complexion, but my skin sometimes changes when i exercise or when i am hot ppl tell me that my cheeks go like a dark red colour, like colour of blood...also i have quite red lips...and also my skin colour changes when my face is in contact with air and wind....Can asians suffer from rosacea ?
You should see you GP to find out. S/he can give
a proper diagonsis.
I am not white, but I am half white and my mother is extremely pale like an albino so my skin even though light brown gets sun burnt and goes red very easily so you never know. Even so, it is very rare for non-whites to suffer from rosacea. I don't have it just very sensistive skin. If you look it up on wiki you'll see that Mariah Carey is a sufferer - and she isn't white.

yeah they can but if you're just turning red when exercising and stuff that's because of increased blood flow. it happens to everyone it might just be more noticeable in you. rosacea is a skin disorder that is pretty permanent
yes,but it sounds like you have something other than rosaccea to me

I think i have rosacea, does anyone have it and how can i tell and treat it?
* Rosacea causes erythema (redness) that looks like flushing or blushing of the face or neck. The flushing occurs when blood flow increases the amount of blood flow through small blood vessels and the vessels expand to accommodate this flow. The redness initially may come and go but becomes more permanent as the disease progresses.
* Telangiectasia (red lines) - Many people also have enlarged blood vessels under the skin, which are noticeable as red lines through the skin, especially when the overall redness fades.
* Facial Burning, Stinging or Itching -flushing attacks can cause uncomfortable physical symptoms, such as facial burning, stinging or itching.
* Oedema (facial swelling). Sometimes soft facial swelling may last for days when the erythema flares up. Persisting hard facial oedema can also occur.
* Dome shaped small lumpy red pimples (papules) - The pimples of rosacea, which often occur as the disease progresses, are different from those of acne because blackheads and whiteheads are not present. Some of these pimples contain pus (pustules) and appear as small white bumps. Left untreated larger nodules can develop.
* Many people develop related problems affecting the eye- ocular rosacea. This can affect over 50% of people and can range from mild to severe. Eye problems are unlikely to develop in people taking antibiotic tablets for rosacea.
Symptoms include:
* Blepharitis, (inflamed, dry and crusty eyelids), and
* Conjunctivitis, (Gritty feeling eyes)
More serious problems arise, if left untreated including:
* Iritis, (painful inflammation of the iris), and
* Keratitis, (ulceration of the cornea).
In a few people, especially older men, the nose becomes enlarged, bumpy, red or purple and swollen (Rhinophyma).
As rosacea affects the face, it can be associated with anxiety and lack of confidence and may lead to psychological problems and depression.I think i have rosacea, does anyone have it and how can i tell and treat it?
I have it, and in the Uk I have been told not to wear make-up or use cosmetics that contain oil of any kind. Clinique do a range like this, but there are probably cheaper ranges as well, since the condition is becoming quite common.
You should try to avoid red wine, Coke and spicy foods as well, apparently.I think i have rosacea, does anyone have it and how can i tell and treat it?
i have it too, it is genetic!
My mother and grandfather have this (odds are I'll develop it later in life then) and they use teatree oil and other natural remedies to augment tablets the doctor pescribes.
It is treatable by oral antibiotics and topical metronidazole for few weeks with the help of a physician.

It can't be cured. Look up some info on the internet.
I have it - what works for me is a course of Oral Antibiotics, and Daktacort cream to supress the redness

Can you please help with my Skincare Project?(Broken Capillaries, Pigmentation, Acne Vulgaris &Rosacea)?
Hi!I am currently doing a Beauty Specialist Course and for my 1st project I need to find and Salon, Medical, Alternative, Dietary or Herbal etc treatments for all the above conditions. There isn't much on the net especially for Pigmentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Can you please help with my Skincare Project?(Broken Capillaries, Pigmentation, Acne Vulgaris %26amp;Rosacea)?
Look up cosmetic laser treatments on the net. There are a variety of different laser treatments for the skin problems you have listed. Dependent on the type of laser it would be classed as either salon or medical. Also try looking up microdermabrasion. There's a book called ';Away With Wrinkles'; which is a good source of information (look it up on Amazon). Good luck with your project! Can you please help with my Skincare Project?(Broken Capillaries, Pigmentation, Acne Vulgaris %26amp;Rosacea)?

What can help rosacea?!?!?!?!?
i think i have rosacea because my face is always red no matter what. makeup doesn't rly help. I use acne medication on my face persribed by my dermo. i don't have an appointment with her until May. I'd like to know if there's anything i can do until May to reduce redness without makeup, nor the derno's help. What can help rosacea?!?!?!?!?

I have it too, and have just come across the above website. I haven't had time to try any of their suggestions yet, but several of them look promising so I'll begin trying them soon!
Good luck to you! What can help rosacea?!?!?!?!?
Unfortunately, not really. All of the truly effective treatments for rosacea require prescriptions. I would call and ask to see if there have been any cancellations or if they can squeeze you in sooner -- my recommendations for medications to ask for are as follows:
- Finacea (15% azelaic acid) -- this is best treatment
- Nicomide (oral medication for rosacea and acne)
(Nicomide is a good alternative to oral antibiotics)
- Plexion wash
- Salicylic acid, 2%, if your face is also oily (not if dry)
- Use a fragrance-free, sensitive-skin moisturizer
(this is if you have dry skin, not if you have oily skin)
Do *not* accept MetroGel. In a comparison study between MetroGel and Finacea, Finacea was demonstrated to be clearly superior to MetroGel. MetroGel is an antibiotic, and bacteria have been determined to not be the causative agent in rosacea. Good luck!eye makeup

Rosacea treatment by doctor?
Can you be diagnosed and given medication for rosacea by a regular doctor if your health insurance doesn't cover dermatologists?Rosacea treatment by doctor?
Yes -- request Finacea. In some medical studies, it has been proven to be more effective than MetroGel/MetroCream (one of the more commonly-prescribed medications) which many patients find unsatisfactory. If you also have acne along with your rosacea, a prescription wash called Plexion can be very helpful. Plexion wash is helpful for both acne and rosacea. Oral doxycycline (100mg 2x/day) is also helpful for rosacea (and for acne). Rosacea treatment by doctor?
Yes. I'm sure your primary care physician will be able to prescribe you some of the more common treatments for Rosacea . I bet if you brought in some info on other medications s/he would be will to give those a try too since most Rosacea treatments aren't to tricky to treat with.
As a hobbist in this area,I would suggest you take a look here http://www.healthinsurance-onlinetips.info/health-insurance-for-free.htm ,there are helpful tips there

Anyone have rosacea and knows how to control it?
I do not have rosacea myself but my grandmother does and here are a few ideas that might help you control yours. Avoid hot tea/coffee, spicy foods, excessive prescription steroids, any form of stress, harsh soaps/creams, and hot baths or hot tubs. The reason one persons rosacea flares up is almost always different for the next person.......watch what you are doing or consuming the next time you have a flare up and simply try to cut back on or eliminate that from your diet/routine. Makeup can be an effective aid in rosacea, will not make it worse, and even some male rosacea sufferers use a bit. A slightly more olive color than usual helps to hide the redness. As i am not personally living with it this is all I can tell you ...based on what I have seen my grandmother do.Anyone have rosacea and knows how to control it?
Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin disorder of an unknown cause. The first thing you should do is make an appointment with a dermatologist so they can evaluate whether it is in fact rosacea as there are many other conditions that can mimic the symptoms of rosacea. Your dermatologist will be able to assist you in choosing the right treatment.
There are several manifestations of rosacea with many people having symptoms of more than one. Some of the symptoms can be: facial flushing, persistent redness, broken blood vessels (telangiectasia), papules %26amp; pustules, lumpy-bumpy skin, facial swelling, burning sensations, pain sensations, ocular rosacea (watery %26amp; bloodshot eyes, foreign body sensation, burning or stinging, dryness, itching, light sensitivity, blurred vision), under-eye veins and rhinophyma (thickening and disfiguration of the nose skin).
Sometimes the advice people will give for treating the redness and flushing is to avoid the triggers. I can assure you that no one with rosacea has ever said that. There are so many triggers, (hot and cold environments, hot spicy food, laughter, stress, emotional embarrassment, etc) and those very factors are things we do everyday. Furthermore, the flushing can be brought on spontaneously. The most effective treatment for rosacea varies greatly by person and unfortunately, this is not an easy condition for most doctors to treat. Therapies such as oral and topical antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, beta-blockers, Clonidine, Metrogel, Noritate, psychotherapy, and low dose Accutane have all been used and benefited some people. There is also laser treatment available for more severe cases that don鈥檛 respond to traditional treatment, although lasers are not very helpful for many people with the flushing and redness symptoms so it is important to do your research first.
The good news is that although it may be painful and annoying to have rosacea, there are many others that have what you have and there are also many treatments to improve (BUT NOT CURE) rosacea. I wish you the best of luck.Anyone have rosacea and knows how to control it?

Everything that really treats rosacea well: Finacea, Plexion, Nicomide, and some oral antibiotics -- all require a prescription, unfortunately. Nothing over-the-counter really treats rosacea. It will become worse without treatment. You could end up spending a lot of money on over-the-counter products that promise a lot ... but that do absolutely nothing. Most people who report ';success'; with home remedies actually just had ';sensitive skin'; and not ';true rosacea';.

Rosacea is a condition of the skin often referred to as adult acne (although it shouldn鈥檛 be confused with acne)
that causes red blemishes to form on the nose and cheek area. General redness, broken and enlarged capillaries
often accompany these areas. The cause of the condition is unknown but it is suspected that genetics play a
role. In its mildest form, Rosacea can be difficult to recognize. It almost always affects the nose area with red
blemishes among red patches on the skin. Sometimes, oily skin accompanies Rosacea. Flare-ups of this condition
have been associated with the consumption of alcohol, spicy foods, citrus, hot beverages, tobacco, external heat
and sun exposure. Clients with this condition should be advised to avoid these irritating factors. Menopause may
also be a factor.

As a hobbist in this area,I would suggest you take a look here http://www.healthinsurance-onlinetips.info/health-insurance-for-free.htm ,there are helpful tips there
Rosacea treatment by doctor?
yes, my doctor started me on metrogel and to wash my face with cetaphil.
I don't know for sure, but rosacea is usually pretty obvious as far as what it is. I'm guessing your regular doctor wouldn't have a problem knowing what it was and giving you the prescriptions for it - usually antibiotics and/or gels or creams to rub on the areas.
You can learn more about it at the link below.

Here are some ideas to heal the issue.
Quick Action Plan for SKin Issues
1. Massage your skin, where needed, with bergamot, camphor, geranium, juniper, lavender, or neroli essential oils.
2. Ayurvedic practitioners recommend making a paste of 陆 tsp each of turmeric and sandalwood paste with enough water, and applying to pimples. Also, drink half a cup of aloe vera juice twice daily until skin clears.
3. Eat an organic whole foods diet, with plenty of organic cooked and raw vegetables, and whole fruits. Reduce animal fats and stressor foods such as caffeine, refined sugars, and alcohol, as well as colas, candies, and frozen and processed foods. Include more high fiber foods.
4. Drink eight glasses of pure, filtered water daily. Also, daily have two glasses of raw juice, combining carrot, beet, and celery juice, or, carrot, cucumber, and lettuce (not iceberg), and spinach, with carrot predominating.
5. Add 3-5 drops of crab apple flower essence to pure water and drink during the day. Rescue Remedy庐 is good for stress.
6. Combine the tinctures of herbs such as sarsaparilla, burdock, and cleavers in equal parts, taking 陆 tsp three times a day. Drink an infusion of nettle several times a day and apply tea tree oil topically. An infusion of calendula mixed with equal parts of distilled witch hazel can be used as a cleansing wash. Steam sauna your face with red clover, lavender, and strawberry leaves.
7. Useful homeopathy remedies are Pulsatilla, Silicea, Berberis, Ledum, Sulfur, Arsen alb., Belladonna, and/or Carbo veg.
8. Enjoy full body immersion hydrotherapy treatments such as steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation, hot and/or cold compresses, and steam sauna your face with red clover, lavender, and strawberry leaves.
9. Useful supplements are vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin B complex, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc. Also include omega-3 fatty acids, brewer's yeast, chlorophyll, and pancreatic enzymes with meals.
10. Expose your face to sun and air at least 30 minutes a day, and exercise daily. Keep your skin clean by washing your face three times a day with soap made from the herb calendula officinalis, or using other alternatives to soap. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Keep the skin free of oil and use water-based products. Get sufficient sleep.
11. Make facial masks from natural products; leave on overnight to help dry the skin if the issue is caused by excess oil.
12. For long term relief and health be sure to do a colon cleanse. This clears out the toxins in the blood and excess waste in the body. Colon cleansing will healp clear up a lot of issue, expecially skin issues.
Cause
Skin Issues may be worsened at adolescence, during the pre-menstrual and/or mid-menstrual cycle due to hormonal action, and when under stress, on contraceptives, eating a poor diet that causes an over acidic system, or taking prescription and non-prescription drugs.
Skin Issues may suggest the need for better hygiene, or magnesium and vitamin A. Also some skin issues are suggesting vitamin B1 deficiency or absorption problems. Consistent raised spots on the outside of the arms and sometimes even the thighs, resembling ';chicken skin,'; may suggest need for magnesium, vitamin A, or essential fatty acids or the need to avoid foods that inhibit the absorption of these nutrients, such as trans-fatty acids found in margarine and hydrogenated oils, such as cottonseed oil and palm kernel oil.
Food allergies, allergies to facial creams, soaps, shampoos, makeup, and excess intake of refined sugars, can all cause or contribute to skin issues. Certain foods can also aggravate skin conditions because of their high-acid forming effects on the body, especially fried foods, trans fats, iodized salt, alcohol, hot and spicy foods, all processed foods, chocolate, fruit juices, carbonated beverages, caffeinated beverages, and dairy products. Excessive long-term intake of seafood or other high iodine foods may also cause issues in some people.
Coexisting gum problems suggest the need for folic acid. A separate skin condition may occur in women 30-40 years old due to physical exercising or working all day with face makeup, lowered resistance due to stress, or hyper-response to bacteria or hormone problems. Another skin problem, acne rosacea (reddish spots in a pattern over nose and cheeks), may be a sign of low B vitamins or low hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
Best of health to you

Alternative methods include products that have antibacterial ingredients. Emu oil has proven to be one of natures substances that offer many ingredients helpful in the treatment of rosacea. Skin irritation is greatly reduced when using products that contain at least 25% emu oil. Some herbs such as neem, cats claw, tea tree, ginger, and lavender have also been reported to give ease to the suffering of rosacea. Washing the affected areas with emu oil soap not only cleans the skin, but leaves a residue of emu oil which aids in reducing the inflammation associated with rosacea. I am including a database of 7000 plants and there are listings for anti-viral, antibacterial,, etc.

Arbonne International has a line that helps with rosacea. LEt me know if you would like to try a sample.
I know this older lady who has to stay away from coffee and chocolate due to rosacea.
Eucerin brand has a line for rosacea and redness, I would give that a try. They have cleansers, lotions and creams specially to get rid of redness. The site is here:

Anyone managed their Rosacea?
Anyone cured their rosacea? What caused your rosacea and how do you treat it? Of those that suffer from rosacea do u have food allergies?Anyone managed their Rosacea?
I have rosacea. My cheeks are still red after almost 4 months of treatment. Much better than it was though. Now it just looks like blush, 4 moths ago it was bright red and bumpy. I use metrogel once a day, at first I was using it twice a day with minocycline. If I exercise really hard it turns bright red, and it will get red if I eat spicy food. No one knows what causes it but I guess in my case its hereditary my grandmother has it, also my 18 year old niece has it, so when they say you get it in your late 20's its not true. I don't have any food allergies at all.Anyone managed their Rosacea?

Rosacea advice needed?
I have severely hypersensitive skin, prone to outbreaks of rosacea. What would be the best treatment approach for this condition?Rosacea advice needed?
I'd say study health foods, and acid alkaline balance, and get yourself more alkaline. Most disease depend on your body being too acid.
Also boost your immune. I use Monavie juice.
Rosacea advice needed?
I gulp down a tablespoon of flaxseed oil every day, quickly followed by orange juice to rid the awful flavor. But it helps.

I am fearfull as to how my skin will react to the bright surgery lights and general anestesia. Anyone have any experiences with this???? thank you in advance...Rosacea and major surgery?
Perhaps the doctors can place a thin sheet over your face, like a gauze to help protect it?
I'm sorry I can't offer you more help on the rosacea side of things, but I can tell you that you will appreciate having a LARGE SUBSTANTIAL HEATPACK to sit on your abdoman and back after the procedure.
Remember that any surgery is serious regardless of the incission (often after keyhole you tell yourself that you should be healing quicker), and that you should take time to recover, and don't make any commitments for at least a week.
Good Luck

A home treatment for rosacea-any tried and true remedies?Creams, cleansers?
I have rosacea and have used an over-the-counter product for 5 years. It is called NeoStrata Bionic Lotion. It is really for anti-aging, but I have found that it helps control my rosacea. It is only available in doctor's offices, but I get mine on eBay for about 1/3 the price, or you can buy it on the NeoStrata website. I don't have a very severe case of rosacea, and I think that's why it works for me. Hope this is helpful to you.A home treatment for rosacea-any tried and true remedies?Creams, cleansers?
Try Aqueous Cream or Emulsifying Ointment, these are very basic plain moisturisers with no additives, scents etc. They are available from any chemist/drugstore and are very cheap (they also make great lipbalm!) Failing that sulphur cream is good for rosacea your Dr will prescibe it for you.

I just received a MicroLaser peel today for rosacea and acne scarring. I am red and blistered now. I may be able to provide a better answer once the recovery process is complete. I was incredibly impressed with the before and after photos that I saw. I plan on getting a IPL (Photofacial) in a month as a second treatment. I wish I could provide answers to you now...

Does anyone suffer from rosacea. i find it difficult to cope with?
Yes it`s best treated by the doctor with some low dose antibioticsDoes anyone suffer from rosacea. i find it difficult to cope with?
I've had severe Rosacea for about 18 years. I started off on antibiotics such as MINOCYCLINE, TETRACYCLINE, ERYTHROMYCIN. Then I tried a topical gel from the doctor. The ONLY thing that worked for me was ROACCUTANE. It was like a miracle! I've been on it 5 times in the last few years.
Things to avoid:
direct heat (hot baths/showers, central heating, bright sun)
indirect heat (spicy foods- curry, chillies, things containing ginger)
citrus foods (limes, lemons, pineapple, oranges, tomatoes)
stress
strong winds, cold weather (keep as much of your face covered as possible)
alcohol, chocolate and drinks such as Coke
any perfumed skin products/things containing alcoholDoes anyone suffer from rosacea. i find it difficult to cope with?
i have had mild rosacea for 15 years.you are not alone.there are millions of people with rosacea.i agree with most people responding that you should see a dermatologist.there is a product i have been using for a year now called FACE DOCTOR SOAP.web search it and read about it and see if its right for you.its a very mild soap for rosacea.try the rejuvenating soap as well as the face surgeon ll together for better results.each bar costs about $10.00 and last for 3 months.after about 3 weeks,i started to see the redness go way down.its not gone, but its about 80% better.remember, there is no cure for rosacea, but you can control it.
My friend has it %26amp; she takes antibiotics %26amp; sees her dermatologist regularly. It seems to keep it under control.
Hope this helps.
Phyllis G.
my eldest daughter has it - she finds it worse if she has had a drink - so keep that low. She also wears special makeup and has pills from her doctor. As she is a natural blonde it shows up a lot but it has not stopped her marrying twice and having 3 children - try not to act selfconciously and people will accept it as part of you

I can't tell if I have rosacea or not (I am am 18 year old girl; very sun paranoid and Scottish). My cheeks and nose are always red/pink but I don't get any worse if I eat spicy food, drink hot liquids, or experience severe temperature changes which I've heard are symptoms of rosacea. And I don't blush. Some face creams/washes do burn though. So basically, is a constantly red face that is not affected by outside factors rosacea?Do I have rosacea?

I have Rosacea and I hate it. Does anyone know what kind of cleanser and moisturizer I should use??
i've had it for 15 years. i only use 2 different soaps, either aveeno oatmeal soap (blue trim box balancing bar) or goats milk. neither one is actually soap. do use hot water only warm, the heat makes it worse. also i use a lotion from the doctor and only oil free cosmetics. it is an awful condition. some days it feels like all the skin on my face is going to burn off. good luck.I have Rosacea and I hate it. Cleansers and moisturizers won't cure rosacea but this is recommended:
Skin Care
Patients should check with their physicians to ensure their skin-care routine is compatible with their rosacea. A gentle skin-care routine can also help control rosacea. Patients are advised to clean their face with a mild and non-abrasive cleanser, then rinse with lukewarm water and blot the face dry with a thick cotton towel. Never pull, tug or use a rough washcloth.
Patients may apply non-irritating skin-care products as needed, and are advised to protect the skin from sun exposure using a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher.
Cosmetics may be used to conceal the effects of rosacea. Green makeup or green-tinted foundations can be used to counter redness. This can be followed by a skin-tone foundation with natural yellow tones, avoiding those with pink or orange hues.
A rosacea facial care routine recommended by many dermatologists starts with a gentle and refreshing cleansing of the face each morning. Sufferers should use a mild soap or cleanser that is not grainy or abrasive, and spread it with their fingertips. A soft pad or washcloth can also be used, but avoid rough washcloths, loofahs, brushes or sponges.
Next, rinse the face with lukewarm water several times and blot it dry with a thick cotton towel. Never pull, tug, scratch or treat the face harshly. Sufferers should let their face air dry for several minutes before applying a topical medication. Let the medication soak in for an additional five or 10 minutes before using any makeup or other skin care products.I have Rosacea and I hate it. Try the Zenmed products. You can find it on the internet. It is a bit pricey but it worked great for me. I was using a prescription steriod cream given to me by the dermatologist and it made my face worse within 3 days. My cheeks and forehead were so inflammed, it looked liked I had a severe sunburn with whelts and all. This was 3 weeks before I was to stand in a wedding. I couldn't go out of the house.
Zenmed is an all natural product and I ordered it quickly. It arrived a few days later and I began the routine. Within 3 days, the damage the cream did was totally unnoticable. I love this product. I use it daily and highly recommend you try. Hey, it can't hurt.
