Any Home remedies for Rosacea?

Does anyone know how to get rid of rosacea naturally? Without popping medication pills?Any Home remedies for Rosacea?
There are some topical medications that are really great for rosacea, like Finacea (15% azelaic acid -- derived from wheat, actually), some prescription washes, like Plexion (containing sulfur), that are also beneficial.

Unfortunately, one of the responders to your question has a *terrible* dermatologist. Her dermatologist is correct that there is no ';cure'; for rosacea, but there are effective treatments to control and reduce the condition (the same is true for acne -- no cure, but treatment is available). Sometimes, an oral antibiotic like doxycycline can help rosacea because it has anti-inflammatory properties in addition to its antibacterial properties, but it's not the most effective treatment. Finacea has been studied to be one of the most effective treatments for rosacea.

There is a prescription pill, Nicomide, which has been studied to be helpful in patients with acne and rosacea. It's a pharmaceutical-grade combination of b-vitamins, zinc, and copper -- the dosage and release of which has been carefully controlled so that it has an anti-inflammatory action, which helps to reduce acne and rosacea.

So, there are prescriptions available, which have their foundations in ';nature'; (azelaic acid, a wheat derivative -- sulfur, a natural element -- and nicomide, prepared from vitamins), but you cannot get therapeutic results from a food, regular vitamins, or applying some organic facial mask because the concentrations of the therapeutic agents in these ';home'; and ';natural'; products are not high enough to be effective.

The cause of rosacea is now suspected to be the over-production of certain inflammatory proteins in the skin. The reason why you don't see rosacea in older persons (over 60) is because the capillaries (very small blood vessels) of these individuals have started to collapse and aren't as active in the skin. That's no reason to ';wait it out'; until you're 60 for rosacea to go away, however.

Avoid using irritating substances on the skin, like benzoyl peroxide, if you also have acne, and try to avoid the sun, avoid caffeine, and avoid anything else that ';triggers'; a flare in your condition. Don't use scrubs or anything too harsh on the skin. You can control rosacea, but neglecting medical treatments will only lead to your condition becoming worse. Rosacea is a progressive condition that can cause lasting problems if not treated.Any Home remedies for Rosacea?
My dermatologist prescribed antibiotics and told me to come back for a follow up in a month. When I came back and told her I hadn't seen any improvement, she said the antibiotics were for my regular acne, and there is no ';cure'; for rosacea. I was pretty upset, because I had also heard that you could get rid of it with antibiotics.

The redness is not an infection, it's blood vessels that have ';risen'; to the surface of the skin and stayed there, rather than with most people where they get red faced when they are hot or cold, and then it goes back to normal.

According to my dermatologist, you can only do things to keep it from getting worse, first and foremost keeping your skin protected from the sun by using a good sun block on your face. She gave me a pamphelet that says to avoid extreme hot and cold temperatures, caffiene, alcohol, spicy foods and sun exposure.

She said never to rub when you are washing or drying your face. I use that mineral make up, which she said was fine.

She said that I can have a laser treatment to reduce the redness, but it is only about 25% effective (will only reduce the redness by about 25%). Other than that, there's nothing you can do. She did say, however, that you eventually ';grow out of it';. Her exact word were ';you don't see people in their 70s with this';. I'm not sure I believe her, but she's the doctor.
I recommend using herbal cream like Zenmed Rosacea Solution: http://zenmed.com/rosacea?a=5881%26amp;x=click
