Does rosacea include excessive dryness?

i was diagnosed w/ it and given prescription medication for rosacea but the dryness will not go away. it is ugly thick peeling, and really my nose wouldn't have been red if the skin didn't peel off in thick layers exposing the pink moist skin underneath. (i can't afford to go back to the dermatologist bcz my insurance won't cover it so i'd like to know if anyone out there has experienced this symptom as part of rosacea and i know i should be asking a dermatologist instead of asking on yahoo answers and tks for your concern)Does rosacea include excessive dryness?
Yes, I had Rosacea and a similar related condition and my skin was dry. Dermatologist do not really understand Rosacea, so they prescribe antibiotic or steroid creams. This is wrong. This causes further skin thinness(atrophy). Rosacea is red skin(erythema). Your nose is red initially from overexpose to heat. Heat from the sun, from steam, whatever. Now that your skin is thin, you get a reaction to hot food, alcohol, cold, and the other triggers. What you need to do is to avoid heat in all forms. This includes the sun. Do not put lotions on your nose that contain oil. This traps in the heat and they literally boil on your face in the hot sun. It will take about two years for your skin to heal. Spray your skin with cool water when your face gets hot when exercising. Keep your skin from overheating and it will heal slowly. Moisturise the skin with a mild lotion like Aveeno, but never go leave it on when you go out in the sun.Does rosacea include excessive dryness?
There is no cure for rosacea, and it will not heal itself. Report Abuse

Rosacea usually causes excessive oiliness of the skin, not dryness. But some commonly used prescription medications for rosacea (especially those that contain higher concentrations of retinoic acid) do cause dryness and peeling of the skin. If your prescription medication is a retinoic acid cream, you could try to use it less frequently. You also need a good lotion. But the best thing to do would be to go back to see the dermatologist...
